Biography

Pete’s professional career began after college when he co-directed a film called Hick Trek. This parody of Star Trek was shot on Super 8 film with an intention no greater than that of a “group project” for friends and enthusiasts.

Some years later, through repeated showings at festivals and conventions, Hick Trek gained the attention of national home video distributors (UAV, Allumination Filmworks) and has been delighting fans for over 9 years.

Encouraged by this low-budget beginning, Pete continued to develop his talent in the visual field and has accumulated a portfolio of short-subject films including Moses 2000 and Jimmy Hits the Big Town, both selected for distribution through MGM/Lionsgate. In 2000, Pete directed and served as FX supervisor on the feature animation film, Star Warp’d, released to home video through Synapse Films.

It was the quality of these short films and Star Warp’d that gained Pete recognition from one of the largest entertainment entities in the world, as well as a partnership in an award-winning and successful video production company with Rob Watt – Watt Imagination!

In 2005, Walt Disney Studios and Buena Vista Home Entertainment (through Forest Rose Productions) hired Pete to co-direct and edit Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic, a docu-tainment retrospective piece celebrating Disneyland’s 50th anniversary, released to home video in 2007.

Following his stint with Disney, Pete completed work on his personally most rewarding and (in his own opinion) most important project. The edgy and disturbing documentary, HAZE (produced by Rob Watt through Watt Imagination!), is a graphic examination of the beer-soaked party scene which permeates the national University and College environment. A nation-wide release was launched in the fall of 2008, with representation for distribution and film festival placement from Cactus Three of New York.

For the last several years, the narrative feature The Creep Behind the Camera, and edgy dark comedy/docu-drama, was Pete’s primary film project. The Creep Behind the Camera is a true story about the making of arguably the worst monster movie ever made, The Creeping Terror. The Creep Behind the Camera features appearances by film aficionados and celebrity critics Michael and Harry Medved, as well as special effects pioneer Richard Edlund and a slew of b-movie stars from the 1960s. Both hilarious and disturbing, The Creep Behind the Camera is a nostalgic look at the drive-in era of bottom-of-the-barrel filmmaking.

Creep can be see internationally on over 70 distribution venues, such as Comcast, Time/Warner, iTunes, Dish Network, Amazon, DirectTV and more.

While working on The Creep Behind the Camera, Pete found time to produce a very personal narrative short film entitled conditional, which was semi-autobiographical. conditional, which deals with unresolved family relationships, was featured in many film festivals, winning “best drama” at the Florida 15 Minutes of Fame film festival.

Returning to his favorite form of filmmaking, in 2017 Pete hired established character actor Tony Todd (Candyman, The Rock, Platoon) to star in the intense and emotional short film IMTK. The 20-minute film deals with issues of cyclical child abuse and relations between law enforcement and the African-American community. Submission to film festivals has only just begun in early 2018. Time will tell, but advance screenings and reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Now Pete is in development on a remake of the 1973 Bob Clark (A Christmas Story, Murder By Decree, Black Christmas) film Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things.
